A divisão de construção naval Ingalls Industries (HII) da Huntington Ingalls lançou ao mar o USS Paul Ignatius (DDG-117), o 31º destróier de mísseis guiados da classe Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) construído pela companhia, no dia 12 de novembro de 2016.

O USS Paul Ignatius (DDG-117) foi movido através do sistema de trilhos da Ingalls para uma doca seca flutuante. Uma vez posicionado, a doca seca foi afastada do cais, e depois alagada para flutuar o navio.

A Ingalls entregou 28 destróieres da classe Arleigh Burke à Marinha dos Estados Unidos. Outros destróieres atualmente em construção na Ingalls incluem USS John Finn (DDG-113), USS Ralph Johnson (DDG-114), USS Delbert D. Black (DDG-119) e USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG-121). A construção do USS Lenah H. Sutcliffe Higbee (DDG-123) está programada para começar no segundo trimestre de 2017.

Ao todo foram incoporados até agora 62 navios da classe Arleigh Burke, 34 construídos pela General Dynamics, Bath Iron Works Division, e 28 pela Huntington Ingalls Industries (anteriormente Northrop Grumman Ship Systems), Ingalls Shipbuilding. Estão em construção mais 7 navios da classe.

O USS Michael Murphy foi originalmente destinado a ser o último da classe Arleigh Burke, mas com a redução da produção da classe Zumwalt (DDG-1000), a Marinha dos EUA solicitou novos navios de classe DDG-51. Os contratos de materiais de longa duração foram concedidos à Northrop Grumman em dezembro de 2009 para o DDG-113 e em abril de 2010 para o DDG-114.

A General Dynamics recebeu um contrato de longo prazo para o DDG-115 em fevereiro de 2010. Em maio de 2013, um total de 76 navios estavam planejados. A variante Flight III está em fase de projeto a partir de 2013 e até 42 navios do tipo poderão ser adquiridos pela Marinha dos EUA com o primeiro navio entrando em serviço em 2023.
